The Poppy flower, 'Anemone coronaria,' is the National flower of Palestine. The poppy variety grows in abundance in the fields of Palestine during the spring months. For a long time, it has represented the relationship between Palestinians and their land.

The rich red also symbolises bitter memories of bloodshed. Featuring all four colours that make up the Palestinian flag, the poppy has come to symbolise resistance and indigenous Palestinian heritage.
